Garden Tap Installation in Syston & Leicester
Need an Outside Tap Fitted?
Whether you need an outside tap for watering the garden, washing the car, filling a paddling pool or simply making life a little easier, I can install a new garden tap connected to your existing cold water supply.
I fit outside taps across Syston, Leicester and surrounding areas of Leicestershire.
Every installation is slightly different, so if you'd like a quote, send me a few photos showing where you'd like the tap installed and the plumbing on the other side of the wall. In many cases, I'll be able to give you a good idea of what's involved before I visit.
What's Included in a Garden Tap Installation?
A typical installation involves connecting into a suitable cold water pipe inside your property, drilling through the outside wall and running the new pipework to the position of your garden tap.
Where required, I'll fit:
A good-quality outside tap
Double check valve for backflow protection
Internal isolation valve
Copper or suitable plumbing pipework and fittings
Pipe clips and fixings
Suitable protection for exposed pipework
I'll position the tap where practical, securely fix everything in place and test the installation for leaks before I'm finished.
How Much Does an Outside Tap Cost to Install?
A straightforward outside tap installation will typically cost from £100, including standard parts and labour.
The exact cost depends on where the nearest suitable cold water supply is, the length of pipework required and how easily the installation area can be accessed.
If the tap needs to be installed further away from the existing plumbing or requires a longer pipe run, I'll let you know the additional cost before carrying out the work.
For a more accurate quote, send me a few photos of where you'd like the outside tap and the plumbing immediately inside the property.
Where Can an Outside Tap Be Installed?
The easiest place to install an outside tap is usually on an external wall with an accessible cold water pipe nearby on the inside – often underneath a kitchen sink or near a utility room.
That doesn't mean your tap has to go directly behind the kitchen sink. If you need it somewhere else, it may be possible to run additional pipework to a more convenient position.
Send me a few photos of the inside and outside of the wall where you'd like the tap and I'll let you know what should be possible.

Yes, in many cases I can run additional pipework from the nearest suitable cold water supply.

Yes, depending on your existing plumbing and where the tap needs to be positioned.
Do outside taps need a double check valve?
This depends on the arrangement and intended use; I’ll fit the appropriate backflow protection for the installation.

I normally include an accessible isolation valve where appropriate, allowing the outside supply to be turned off when required.
