Loose & Faulty Taps
Loose taps, stiff handles and other tap problems can sometimes be repaired without replacing the complete tap. I'll inspect the tap and advise on the most practical option.
Dripping & Leaking Taps
A constantly dripping tap can waste water and become increasingly annoying. Depending on the tap and availability of suitable parts, it may be possible to repair the existing tap rather than replace it.
Bathroom & Basin Taps
I can repair and replace a range of bathroom and basin taps, including mixer taps and separate hot and cold taps, depending on the existing installation and access.
Tap Isolation Valves & Connections
Tap problems aren't always caused by the tap itself. Leaking flexible hoses, connections and faulty isolation valves can also require attention when repairing or replacing a tap.
Should I Repair or Replace My Tap?
Not every dripping or leaking tap needs to be replaced.
Depending on the type, age and condition of the tap, some faults can be repaired by replacing cartridges, washers or other components.
If the tap is heavily worn, damaged, difficult to obtain parts for or you simply want something new, replacing it may be the more practical option.
I'll assess the existing tap and let you know which option makes the most sense.

The time required to replace a tap can vary depending on how easily the tap and connections can be accessed.
Kitchen sinks and basins with good access underneath are usually more straightforward, while taps positioned behind deep sinks, baths or fitted furniture can take longer to remove and replace.
I'll also check the condition of the existing pipework, flexible hoses and isolation valves while carrying out the work.

My standard rate for general plumbing work is £50 per hour, plus any parts or materials required.

Many straightforward tap replacements can be completed within an hour, although restricted access, seized fittings or alterations to the existing pipework can increase the time required.

Not necessarily. If the existing isolation valves are working correctly they may be reused. If they're leaking, seized or in poor condition, I may recommend replacing them while carrying out the tap work.
